About Dr. Stephen A. Giunta

Hello Folks. My name is Stephen A. Giunta. Please feel free to just call me Steve.

I have been a mental health professional for most of my life. I’ve served clients from just about every walk of life and in just about every type of setting. Now, semi-retired, I continue to serve.

Over the decades, I have acquired a considerable bank of knowledge, refined a reliable skill set, and grew appreciative of the uniqueness of each individual client and the challenges they face in their lives. Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse range of populations, including youth, adults, couples, families, and military personnel.

I have an effective approach to counseling that encompasses life’s specific challenges. I begin by addressing developmental issues. Clients sometimes get stuck when they rely on old habits to address the challenges of a new stage of life (leaving home for college, couples having their first child, entering mid-life, etc.). In turn, I will help you explore the cognitive and behavioral patterns that you use to overcome life challenges. All the while, we’ll explore your existential concerns such as the need for individual autonomy, your life’s purpose and meaning, and issues of spirituality.

Over time, I have developed a few specialties:

  • Post-divorce family counseling
  • Couples counseling (following the Gottman model)
  • Adjustment disorders and other types of anxiety issues
  • Military life issues

Please know that my focus is on creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. My commitment to clients is unwavering. I strive to offer compassionate and effective support, guiding each person towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and well-being. In our sessions, you can expect a collaborative and non-judgmental space where your goals and needs are the top priority.
